Engaging Social Media Conversations on Twitter

This is an example of getting involved and using social media to engage conversation! I was referring to a Forrester blog post (called “Who Should Lead the Customer Social Media Interaction?” written by Dr. Natalie Petouhoff). I think this article neglects to consider small business owners. At the end of her post, I submitted comments and I was happy to see that not only did the author respond, but someone from Twitter (see thread below) commented publicly on the conversation and asked to speak further with me on this topic. (The Tweeter is Frank Eliason, Director of Digital Care for Comcast.)

Summary of what happened:

1) I posted my thoughts on a blog post by Forrester talking about who should lead social media interaction.

2) I almost immediately heard back from the author of the post and someone on Twitter (who isn’t following 720MEDIA) but noticed by response on the blog post. The way we interacted was through Twitter.

3) I used Twitter to send Frank our “Contact Us” page, so he can send me his email address privately (we can’t send direct messages to each other since we’re not following one another)

Getting Business Leads Using Twitter + Facebook

26 Mar

picture 201 Getting Business Leads Using Twitter + Facebook I used my 720MEDIA twitter account this morning to promote a client’s newsletter (inviting the community to attend a reception and artist’s talk at Cornerstone Arts Center next week). My intention was to promote a great art opening while showing the community that 720MEDIA offers great design. Here’s the Tweet:

And to my surprise, within just 10 minutes of posting this, I heard from the Executive Director of a Colorado Springs nonprofit requesting a meeting next week to discuss our email marketing pricing and services. She is connected to me through Facebook (my tweets automatically post to FB), and although we haven’t yet met in person, we feel like we sort of know each other through status updates, friends of friends, etc.

I am excited to see that because of Twitter, a wide range of people are seeing what I’m at up to at 720MEDIA, and the new sales requests we’re getting are genuine leads that are turning into new accounts.

How are you using Twitter or Facebook to increase sales and engage your community?
