Engaging Social Media Conversations on Twitter

20 Jul

On July 19th, I tweeted this:

Who Should Lead the Customer Social Media Interaction? http://bit.ly/bkxzR (I think this article neglects to consider small business owners)

I was referring to a Forrester blog post (written by Dr. Natalie Petouhoff). At the end of her post, I submitted comments and I was happy to see that not only did the author respond, but someone from Twitter (see thread below) commented publicly on the conversation and asked to speak further with me on this topic. (The Tweeter is Frank Eliason, Director of Digital Care for Comcast.)

This is a great example of getting involved and using social media to engage conversation!

Summary of what happened:

1) I posted my thoughts on a blog post by Forrester talking about who should lead social media interaction.

2) I almost immediately heard back from the author of the post and someone on Twitter (who isn’t following 720MEDIA) but noticed by response on the blog post. The way we interacted was through Twitter.

3) I used Twitter to send Frank our “Contact Us” page, so he can send me his email address privately (we can’t send direct messages to each other since we’re not following one another)

Tips from 720MEDIA on increasing website traffic

1 Jul

For the second day in a row, we have surpassed previously set records for traffic to 720MEDIA.com. And the fact that it’s a holiday week (traditionally a slower time) makes this victory even sweeter.

Here are some reasons why I think our website traffic is increasing and designed to capture sales leads:

  1. Search engine marketing: We are using search engines to reach our ideal customers directly (100% organic – no paid advertising by the way).
  2. Search engine optimization: We effectively use words and phrases throughout our site that our prospective clients are searching for online. We check to see what keywords people are using to find us, and closely monitor our SEO & top visited pages in relation to sales.
  3. Successful landing pages: Using emotionally engaging images and text, we create a conversation around specific content so that prospective clients see an immediate connection between the keywords and phrases they searched for, and the action items / value we present.
  4. Content from client’s point of view: We write content from the point of view of our prospective clients.
  5. Measure social media goals: We measure the results from our various social media activity daily, and make changes based on the results we see. Right now, we are most visible on Facebook & Twitter, and we have a presence on LinkedIn as well.
